Just as before, the 2013 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman is upgraded with equipment that focuses on the needs of fishermen, hunters, campers, and boaters. The truck gets a Class IV tow hitch, lighted 4- and 7-pin harnesses, heavy-duty engine and transmission cooling for towing larger loads, and trailer-sway control system as standard. In addition, 4×4 models receive a standard 3.92 axle ratio, electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case, front suspension and transfer case skid plates, and extra heavy-duty rear shocks. All models get a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8, limited-slip differential, and choice between a six-speed automatic or the new-for-2013 eight-speed unit.
Two bed lengths are offered, including 5 ft. 7 in. and 6 ft. 4 in. For 2013, cab choices are reduced to quad cab and crew cab, with mega cab no longer offered. RamBox returns as an available option for both bed sizes, and includes two lockable, weatherproof storage bins offering a total of 8.6 cubic feet of space, adjustable bed extender, and a cargo rail system with sliding tie-down cleats.
Like other 2013 Ram 1500 models, the 2013 Outdoorsman benefits from a redesigned interior, with soft-touch materials, new HVAC controls, and Uconnect system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Models equipped with the eight-speed automatic receive an e-shift dial gear selector. The Outdoorsman is also offered with the 2013 Ram 1500’s new seven-inch instrument cluster-integrated information screen.
